PDM is a statewide network of progressive activists, dedicated to promoting economic, social, and environmental justice, truly democratic government, and progressive values in Massachusetts. Active since 2003, PDM pursues these goals through sustained grassroots work at the state and local levels by advocating on issues, supporting progressive candidates, and enhancing the capacity and effectiveness of activists through trainings, network building, and collaboration with other progressive organizations. In each election cycle, PDM focuses on a targeted set of races that can make a significant contribution to building a state legislature that will advance a progressive agenda and ensure an open and transparent legislative process that enhances citizen engagement in our democracy. We are proud to endorse Natalie Higgins. She is running for re-election and in four years has achieved leadership roles in the House as the Vice Chair of the House Committee on Personnel and Administration and a member of the Joint Committee on Ways & Means. She is a strong progressive voice in the House and supports high-quality, affordable public education from pre-K through college; physical and mental health care is a basic human right; access to affordable, high-quality housing for all; and a fairer tax system. She has advocated for small businesses and entrepreneurs; workers’, women’s, and LGBTQ rights; clean energy technology; and actively combating climate change. Natalie previously worked as a non-profit director at PHENOM (a higher education advocacy organization) and as a rape crisis counselor. John Lippitt, a member of PDM’s Leadership Team, said, “We at PDM are enthusiastically endorsing Natalie because she has the experience, energy, and commitment to tackle the serious challenges her district and our Commonwealth are facing during this coronavirus pandemic. She knows how to engage her constituents, work with others to build coalitions to get things done, and provide leadership. We urge the voters of her district to vote for her and return her to the legislature.”
